Warner Bros. announced last year that Shazam will be released in 2019. That’s obviously a long time to wait to finally see wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson play a comic book character on the big screen, but based on the interview below, it sounds like the movie might just reach us sooner than thought!

For those of you unfamiliar with the character, Shazam is a young boy who transforms into a magically powered superhero each time he says “Shazam!” Black Adam meanwhile is the original champion of Shazam and Billy’s main rival. However, he would later go on to become an anti-hero of sorts in the DC Universe.

“It may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted,” Johnson teased when asked about his excitement to take on the role of Black Adam and the fact that the movie is still quite some time away.

“The script is coming in, it’s great; the support support from the studio has been great. It’s just a great opportunity, especially with Black Adam where you take a guy who starts off as a bad guy, turns into an anti-hero. We can make him viscous, a little bit of winking charm.” So, it all sounds pretty great it’s fair to say!

As for whether or not Johnson knows who will end up playing Shazam, he added: “We don’t know yet.”
