We’ve seen little to nothing from Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, but that’s about to change with both a new trailer later this month and a 7-minute prologue which will be shown in front of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The cinema which Tweeted – and later deleted – this news (which has since been verified by other sources) will be showing that highly anticipated release in 70mm IMAX 2D, so it could be that this preview is exclusive to certain places.

However, when you take into account the fact that there are only 15 70mm capable cinemas across the world, chances are that Warner Bros. will be pushing for the preview to be shown on all screens. Otherwise, it’s going to be a very limited preview! Still, given Nolan’s love of IMAX in general, it’s doubtful he wants this restricted to a small audience.

We’ll have to wait and see, but don’t expect to see this sneak peek online. The IMAX prologues for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were never released beyond some poor quality bootlegs, and there’s probably not enough fan interest in Dunkirk to lead to that happening again. Still, this news is another incentive to see Rogue One in IMAX this month!

The incredible cast of Dunkirk also includes Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, and Cillian Murphy. Could this be the movie which finally gets Nolan that long overdue Academy Award? We’ll see, but it’s currently set to be released worldwide next July, so stay tuned…
