The cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad continues to grow, with Jai Courtney now in talks to play Batman villain Deadshot in the 2016 movie. The Australian actor’s career is going from strength to strength as he’ll soon be in Terminator: Genesys, and Deadshot could be a key role for him in the DC Cinematic Universe.

In the comic books, Floyd Lawton is one of the world’s finest assassins, well-known for his expert shot and near perfect track record. The only time he’s missed? When he tried and failed to take out Batman.

A number of trades have reported on this casting, and Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are all said to be in the finale stages of talks. Hardy will play Suicide Squad leader Rick Flagg, while Robbie is set to star as Harley Quinn and Academy Award winning actor Jared Leto is set to play iconic villain The Joker.

Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor after debuting in Batman v Superman.

Will Smith is also still in negotiations, and it’s believed that he will play Captain Boomerang. This is an impressive cast and a good indication that Warner Bros. are taking their DC Comics adaptations seriously. Fury helmer David Ayer is writing and directing Suicide Squad for an August 5th, 2016 release.
