The Walking Dead has really hit its stride over the past couple of years, and despite the fact that it’s about to enter its sixth season, the show feels far from stale. With plenty of critical acclaim and record breaking ratings (not to mention over 150 issues of material to borrow from), it shows no signs of slowing down. However, the recent season six finale cliffhanger has divided opinions.
Many fans weren’t happy to be left waiting until October to find out who Negan introduced to his baseball bat Lucille, but the comic book holds the answer for those who can’t help but let their curiosity get the better of them…doesn’t it? Perhaps not, especially when you take into account the many differences between the AMC series and Robert Kirkman’s comic book.
Here, we take a look at ten of the biggest alterations the show has made while adapting the source material over the years, so prepare to be shocked by what might have been…
10. Richonne = Randria (?)
The Walking Dead shocked us all this year when it revealed that Rick and Michonne have embarked on a romantic relationship, and even comic book fans were taken aback. That’s because despite how close they’ve grown there, these two haven’t come close to embarking on anything more than a rock solid friendship. However, Rick has moved on from Lori’s death by shacking up with Andrea!
She was of course killed off in the series quite some time ago, something which came as a relief after The Walking Dead somehow took one of the source material’s best characters and made her one of the worst ever put on television. Now, Carl even refers to Andrea as “mom” and her and Rick have become quite the power couple.
