Over the weekend, Ryan Reynolds took to social media to post an image of himself slacking off outside the X-Mansion, confirming production has officially begun on Deadpool 2.

Set outside the Hatley Castle in Vancouver, which has been home to the X-Men throughout the franchise, in true Deadpool style Reynolds jokingly said while taking a bit of a rest “Dropped by The X-Mansion….” In a separate post on his Instagram he posted the same image but with the comment “Dropped by X-Mansion. Looked closely for Beast’s lawn bombs before taking well-deserved nap.”

Posting the photo has finally put to bed the rumours that the X-Mansion, which is home to Charles Xavier’s institute of Higher Learning could have a much bigger role in the sequel than its cameo in the first film.

Only last week, a further cast announcement was made when Shiori Kutsana joined the list of actors set to appear in the sequel in an undisclosed role opposite Reynolds. Kutsana will join Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as luck-manipulating mutant Domino, Josh Brolin as the time-traveling Cable, and Jack Kesy is playing a villain who is rumoured to be Irish mutant Black Tom Cassidy. Now production has finally begun on the sequel which is due for release in June 2018, we can no doubt expect to see a rippling of witty photo’s posted across social media from our misfit anti-hero.

The show’s producer, Simon Kinberg, who is working alongside Reynolds as a producer, has previously said of the sequel “I think Deadpool 2 will comment on anything that’s happening in movies today especially in superhero movies. The sort of glut or saturation of these movies and the proliferation of sequels is definitely something we’ll play around with.”
David Leitch is at the helm of the highly anticipated sequel with Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus all returning.
