Robert De Niro is taking a short, well-deserved break from appearing in his huge roster of films to watch a bunch of them instead. He’s been named as President of the Jury for May’s Festival de Cannes (now in its 64th year!)

The actor is no stranger to the festival circuit, having co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival (celebrates its 10th anniversary this year) and it’s spin-off, the Doha Film Festival in Qatar. He also picked up the Career Golden Lion in 1993 at the Venice Film Festival and his association with Cannes began way back in the mid-seventies when the film which established him as a major star, Taxi Driver, won the Palme d’Or at the festival.
