We all know that superheroes are currently dominating cinemas and consistently breaking box office records, but with a number of Marvel projects on television and coming to Netflix as well as a variety of DC Comics shows kicking off this Autumn and in development, comic books really are are taking over!

Over the next few weeks, Constantine, Gotham and The Flash will all debut, while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Arrow return. Meanwhile, DC are also working on shows starring Supergirl and the Teen Titans.

Joining them now is Lucifer, a series which is being developed by Californication creator Tom Kapinos for Fox (which they have already given a put pilot order to). The character was  a supporting player in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman which itself is currently being brought to the big screen by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

According to the site that broke the news, the show focusing on the character will pick up with Lucifer, “who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux.”

Marvel also revealed some big casting news today for Agent Carter, the World War II set series which stars Peggy Atwell and picks up with the character following the events of Captain America: The First Avenger.

Broadchurch and Let’s Be Cops star James D’Arcy  will play Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark’s butler and an unexpected ally to Peggy Carter, joining the previously announced Chad Michael Murray as SSR Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa as they help Peggy navigate her way through what may be her most dangerous mission yet! If the name Jarvis is familiar, it’s because Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) named his robotic butler J.A.R.V.I.S. as a way of paying tribute to the man who helped raise him.

Oh, and here’s a bonus for you! Spartacus actor Nick Tarabay has joined the third season of Arrow as the villainous Captain Boomerang. In the series, he’ll play a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employer.
