Disney has announced today that David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) will be among those bringing the iconic characters of McDuck Manor to life in a brand new animated series called DuckTales which is set to premiere on Disney Channel UK in early 2018. The British actor will take on the role of Scrooge McDuck, though the show boasts a stellar ensemble.

Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan provide the voices of mischief-making Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively, Beck Bennett is Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye is Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci is Webby Vanderquack. The cast was revealed today in a video of the actors singing a rendition of the original “DuckTales” theme song. You can actually check that out below, and based on this sneak peek, we have lots to look forward to!

Other beloved characters slated to appear are Donald Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Gyro Gearloose, Duckworth, Gizmoduck, Magica DeSpell, Gladstone Gander, and Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys. That’s a list of names which will be instantly familiar to Disney fans, and the fact that they’re being brought back for modern audiences is obviously very exciting.

Disney Television Animation is producing this new take on DuckTales. The original series won an Emmy, so the pressure is on for this take to not disappoint new and older fans alike.
