EW has shared word today that the anticipated Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower has had its release date back and will now open sometime during next summer.

Originally the film was due in cinemas on February 17th, 2017 but it now seems that it will not land until sometime during the summer season. No official reason has been given for the change but an announcement is thought to be incoming from Columbia Pictures.

Matthew McConaughey Talks Dark Tower

The adaptation stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain (aka The Gunslinger), as he takes on his sworn enemy Randall Flagg (aka The Man in Black) played by Oscar Winner Matthew McConaughey. Abbey Lee, Tom Taylor, Fran Kranz, Katheryn Winnick, Claudia Kiim and Jackie Earle Haley co-star.

Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) directs the film and is produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (Inferno).
