It’s been an interesting year for one-time Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. He made a brief appearance in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck, played one of the creators of Grand Theft Auto in a very controversial BBC drama, and will soon be seen as Igor opposite James McAvoy in director Paul McGuigan’s Victor Frankenstein. However, the actor will be getting a drastic new look for his next role as an undercover FBI agent in Daniel Ragussis’ Imperium.

Imperium is the story of an FBI agent who is recruited to go deep undercover. He infiltrates a group of white supremacist terrorists who want to make a dirty bomb, and it’s actually based on the experiences of Michael German (who co-wrote the film with Ragussis), a deep cover agent who spent years working to take down neo-Nazi militias throughout the United States.

In this first look image from Imperium, Radcliffe looks a lot different as Nate Foster. The movie begins production this week near Richmond, Virginia, and should give the British actor the chance to show off a different side of himself. Oddly, the rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet, so it could be that Radcliffe ends up being the biggest name in Imperium.

Is that a bad sign? It’s too early to say, but we’ll keep you updated on how it develops!
