We know Daniel Craig is contracted for at least one more James Bond movie after Spectre, but it’s no sure thing that he’ll return. After all, the 47 year old actor has made it clear on many occasions that reprising the role isn’t a priority for him, and unless that’s just a clever way of ensuring Sony pay him a huge amount for one final appearance, he won’t be back.

Asked again if he can see himself returning as 007, he said: “Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists… I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Of course, Spectre has been a long and difficult shoot (Craig was even injured at one point), so it could be that he just needs a break before committing to one more adventure as Bond!

“I haven’t given it any thought,” the actor continued. “For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

As for who he hopes to see play Bond next, Craig bluntly responded: “I don’t give a fuck.”

While these comments are likely at least somewhat tongue in cheek, a new face for the Bond franchise probably wouldn’t be the worst thing at this point…can someone call Idris Elba?!
