Had everything gone to plan, Josh Trank’s Star Wars movie (rumoured to revolve around Boba Fett) would have been released in 2018. However, after Simon Kinberg took his concerns about the filmmaker to Lucasfilm following those well publicised behind the scenes Fantastic Four issues, he was let go and the movie was indefinitely delayed by the studio.

Well, they’re still planning on making the movie, and F. Gary Gray – who was recently chosen to take the helm of Fast & Furious 8 – was at one point talking to Lucasfilm about taking the helm according to a new rumour. Here’s where things get really interesting though; Creed and Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan was being considered for the role of the new Boba Fett!

How would that work given the fact that the character wasn’t black when we met him in the still very much in continuity (whether you like it or not) Star Wars: Attack of the Clones?

Well, a rumour started doing the rounds last year that Boba Fett’s movie would revolve around someone stealing his armour and taking over the mantle following Return of the Jedi. That’s obviously a major change to the status quo and something which could upset some Star Wars fans, but there’s no denying that it would be an interesting direction to take the character in. After all, as beloved as he is, Boba doesn’t really have a ton of personality!

This is still very much a rumour for now of course, but it certainly gives us food for thought. Speaking of which, check out the Star Wars character we want to see return by clicking here!
