You may think this was already confirmed, but believe it or not, we really have spent the past year dealing with the same rumour over and over about Ben Affleck starring in and directing a solo Batman movie! Asked about it during the recent press tour for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, both the actor and producers remained coy, refusing to commit.

However, Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara confirmed Tuesday at CinemaCon that Affleck will indeed direct the movie (which has been rumoured as being titled “The Batman).

The negative critical response to Batman v Superman clearly did very little to dent the Argo helmer’s interest in tackling one of these DC Comics adaptations, but considering the fact that Affleck was named as a highlight by the majority of critics, why would he be bothered?

Warner Bros. has since issued a press release confirming the news – meaning this is now 100% official – though who is writing it still isn’t clear. Affleck has however recently acknowledged reports that he’s working on a project with comic book writer Geoff Johns, so reports that they’re working on The Batman together are more than likely accurate.

The studio recently announced two DC Films release dates, so here’s hoping this takes one of those! For now, find everything you need to know about Justice League by clicking here.
