David Frankl’s new film, Collateral Beauty, has Will Smith writing letters to the ethereal addresses of Love, Time and Death to help him make some sense of a tragic event that destroyed his world.

Smith is one of the few big names who can effortlessly bound from tragedy to comedy when needed (How come he don’t want me, man?), although the former has been less evident of late.

The first trailer gave a good indication of the film’s aim for the heartstrings and there’s a fine cast around the leading man.

Here’s a full synopsis, and the new trailer for the film is below.

When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) experiences a deep personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, his colleagues devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.

Will Smith is joined by Edward Norton, Keira Knightley with Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Michael Peña and Naomie Harris.

Boxing Day is the release date, here’s your new look at the film.
