Jon-Hamm-and-Larry-David-in-Clear-HistoryPremiering on HBO next month, Greg Mottola’s Clear History is guaranteed to be one of the funniest films of the year.

The comedy sees Larry David in his first leading role outside of Curb since Woody Allen’s 2009 film, Whatever Works. And he stars opposite Jon Hamm, alongside one of the best comedy ensembles in recent memory.

After seeing two great first teaser trailers in the past month or so, HBO have finally debuted the first full trailer, and it really bodes well for what’s to come.

CLEAR HISTORY follows Nathan Flomm (David), a marketing executive at a start-up electric car company, who, after a petty argument with his boss, gives up his 10 percent of the shares. The company then goes on to make billions of dollars, leaving Nathan publicly humiliated, his life destroyed. Ten years later, he’s changed his name and moved to a small island off the coast of Massachusetts.  All is well until something from his past threatens the new life he’s made for himself.

David and Hamm are joined by Bill Hader, Kate Hudson, Michael Keaton, Danny McBride, Eva Mendes, Philip Baker Hall, Amy Ryan, and David’s brilliant Curb co-star, J.B. Smoove.

Mottola (Adventureland, Superbad) directs from a script David co-wrote with frequent collaborators Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer, all of whose credits include Curb, Seinfeld, and The Dictator.

Clear History will air on HBO on August 10th at 9pm/8c in the US. As of yet, we’ve still got no word on a UK release date, but I’m really hoping that it will be arriving on our shores very shortly after, because this is going to be amazing.
