Interstellar was another amazing movie by The Dark Knight Trilogy’s Christopher Nolan, and moviegoers have been waiting since the day it was released to find out what his next project will be. Well, now we know, and it’s fair to say that it’s most likely not what you expected!

It’s been revealed to be a documentary on stop-motion animators Stephen and Timothy Quay, and the film will apparently pay tribute to some of Nolan’s favourite filmmakers.

The appropriately titled Quay will also offer viewers a look into “the inner workings of the Brothers’ studio”, and will premiere alongside three of their classic stop-motion films (In Absentia, The Comb, and Street of Crocodiles) at a special event in New York next month.

Nolan is curating the event and will appear during the opening evening of Film Forum NYC.

It sounds like the director may have played a role in the restoration of these movies as they will all be screened from new 35MM prints. This seems like a passion project for Nolan, but you have to believe he’ll be back to making epic and thought provoking blockbusters soon…
