I think this is rather good news people? Would love to know your thoughts to the announcement that former Dr. Who, Christopher Eccleston has been cast in the role as Malekith The Accursed in Thor: The Dark World (Thor 2) opposite Chris Hemsworth who returns as the title character.
Malekith The Accursed is a super-villain in the Marvel Universe, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim according to Deadline who broke the news last night. Alan Taylor will direct with a cast that sees Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba all returning.
In slightly unrelated news, earlier this week I went along to Bourne Wood in Surrey to see if I could find any signs of Thor 2 being filmed and although there was nothing obvious, there was this large patch of fenced off long grass with an open patch in the middle. I am completely speculating here but I do wonder if the long grass is a place for Thor to land when he returns to Earth in the second movie. Bourne Wood is used for so many films that it’s completely possible it’s nothing to do with this production but just a theory of mine that it could be where he lands with cameras craned above the open area in the middle. I filmed a little video of the grass below, apologies for the windy start.
I guess we’ll see if I’m right when the movie is released November next year.
