Chris Pratt’s star is on the rise. After taking on the role of Star-Lord in the #1 superhero movie of 2014 (Guardians of the Galaxy), he will next be seen in Jurassic World. The Parks and Recreation actor has also lined up Cowboy Ninja Viking, another comic book adaptation. Oh, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in 2017!

However, it now looks like we can add another movie to that list as a new report reveals that Pratt is in early talks to star alongside Denzel Washington in MGM and Antoine Fuqua’s remake of Magnificent Seven.

If both Pratt and Washington end up joining the cast of the movie, there will still be another five members of the team to bring together. Like the original, the plot will focus on a seven elite gunmen who come together to protect their town. Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson were among those in the classic Magnificent Seven movie, and it looks like they’re trying to assemble an equally impressive cast for this version.

It appears as if the remake won’t follow the original too closely as the characters won’t be modelled specifically after any of the original cast members. Pratt is up for the role of “Farraday” apparently.

Magnificent Seven was originally being developed for Tom Cruise. The first draft was penned by True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto, but John Lee Hancock (Snow White and the Huntsman) later rewrote it. That appears to be the current version that Training Day helmer Antoine Fuqua is working on developing.
