Chef-Poster-SliceHaving spent much of the past decade in blockbuster territory, Jon Favreau is returning to his roots this year, switching gears to bring us the independent comedy, Chef.

The film debuted to warm early reviews at SXSW last month, and with its release right around the corner across the Atlantic, the first trailer has finally debuted over on Apple, giving us a flavour (pun half-intended) of what we can look forward to in a few weeks’ time.

Chef is the story of Carl Casper, who loses his chef job and cooks up a food truck business in hopes of reestablishing his artistic promise and family.

Favreau is joined by a terrific cast, headed up by Sofía Vergara, John Leguizamo, Scarlett Johansson, Oliver Platt, Bobby Cannavale, Amy Sedaris, and Emjay Anthony, with Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey, Jr. rounding things off.

Firing on all cylinders here, Favreau is directing from his own script, and also produces alongside past collaborator Karen Gilchrist (Cowboys & Aliens) and Sergei Bespalov (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For).

Chef will be released in the US on May 9th, before heading to the UK for a summer slot on 18th June.
