Following the blockbuster news that Mark Ruffalo is going to be reprising the role of The Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, it has now been revealed that Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to play one of the highly anticipated movie’s new female leads.

There’s sadly no word on who she is going to be playing, though recent rumours have pointed to fan-favourite villains like Enchantress and Hela making their big screen debuts here.

What We Do in the Shadows co-director Taika Waiti is taking the helm of Thor: Ragnarok, while it was recently revealed that Stephany Folsom was recently hired to pen the script. Chris Hemsworth will obviously be reprising the role of Thor and Tom Hiddleston is expected to return as Loki, though there’s no word on who else might be coming back to the franchise.

Regardless, Blanchett is an amazing addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she’s no stranger to the fantasy realm after starring in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies.

Thor: Ragnarok is currently set to be released on November 3rd, 2017, so stay tuned!

Earlier today, Blanchett received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Carol, and you can hear the actress talk more about that in our exclusive interview below.
