Marvel have done it again. Last year, it was an awesome new tease for Iron Man 3. This year, it’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, raising the anticipation that much higher.
Marking the third instalment in Phase Two, following on from Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, the blockbuster sees Chris Evans return in the eponymous lead, with Sebastian Stan back from the dead as The Winter Soldier.
Following the new character posters in the week, the studio launched a brilliant preview of their Super Bowl TV spot before the weekend, alongside the film’s main two theatrical posters, and the full spot definitely lives up to expectations.
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
Evans and Stan are joined by a great cast, headed up by Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, and Hayley Atwell, alongside Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson.
Brothers Anthony and Joe Russo (Welcome to Collinwood, Arrested Development) are directing from a script penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World).
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 26th March in the UK, before crossing the Atlantic for its April 4th US release date. As we count down the weeks, here’s the full Super Bowl TV spot. Enjoy.
