Captain-America:-The-Winter-Soldier-UK-Poster-sliceMarvel launched the first teaser trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier way back in October last year, so we’re definitely due a new look at the upcoming spring blockbuster.

Fortunately, we don’t have to wait long. Ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl, the studio have released a preview for their Big Game Spot, along with two new posters, following the four character posters that surfaced yesterday.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Chris Evans returns alongside Scarlett Johansson to lead a great ensemble, joined by Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson completing the cast.

Brothers Anthony and Joe Russo (Welcome to Collinwood, Arrested Development) direct from a script by returning co-writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World).

Interestingly, the US poster has Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson given prominent billing, alongside a special mention for Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson, without any reference at the top to Sebastian Stan. And given that the actor appeared in The First Avenger, and his character is the subtitle for this second film in Cap’s stand-alone franchise, it seems a little unfair to let Stan go a little by the wayside. But hopefully that will be rectified with a solo character poster for The Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon in the weeks to come.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now set for release in the UK on 26th March, two days earlier than expected, with its US release date still slated for April 4th. Be sure to check back during the Super Bowl for the full Big Game Spot, and for now, enjoy the preview and the two new posters.
