There’s a genuine feeling of Christmas morning excitement when the Cannes Film Festival announce their annual lineup. Not least from the lucky few who’ll get to hove into town and indulge their cinematic sweet-tooth over the course of twelve days.

This morning new films from Woody Allen, Pedro Almodovar, Nicholas Winding Refn and many more were announced, both in and out of competition. The complete list is below but immediately the prospect of seeing new work from Andrea Arnold, Jeff Nichols and Xavier Dolan shines like a beacon on the filmic horizon.

It’ll also give us the chance to catch Spielberg’s version of Roald Dahl’s The BFG, as well the throw ourselves in with Ken Loach once again, a decade after he won the Palme d’Or for The Wind The Shakes the Barley.

The festival runs from the 11th to the 22nd of May, and we’ll be there to bring you reviews and interviews from the world’s premiere movie festival.
