Kristen-Stewart-in-Camp-X-RayKristen Stewart has been diversifying her career path for years, always keeping things interesting with plenty of indie projects to sit nicely in her credits alongside the likes of Twilight and Snow White. Camp X-Ray marks Stewart’s first leading role since the former franchise ended, and with the film set to make its debut at Sundance in the New Year, the first image of Stewart has surfaced online.

A young woman is stationed as a guard in Guantanamo Bay, where she forms an unlikely friendship with one of the detainees.

Stewart is joined by Payman Maadi, Lane Garrison, J.J. Soria, Julia Duffy, Yousuf Azami, and John Carroll Lynch.

Peter Sattler is making his feature directorial debut with the drama, directing from his own script, with David Gordon Green executive producing.

No word yet on when we can expect Camp X-Ray to head into cinemas, but if you want to be amongst the first to see it in the New Year, then make sure you head out to Park City. For now, here’s the first image of Stewart as Cole, which you can click through to enlarge.
