Bryan Singer has been sharing a variety of images from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past as pre-production gets underway, but his latest reveal is the most interesting yet. It certainly has fans talking anyway, as this piece of production artwork by Grant Major seemingly features a pivotal comic book moment.

In the comics, Apocalypse is a mutant born in Ancient Egypt. However, much of his power comes from the discovery of a mysterious alien spaceship (later named “Ship” by the villain) hidden in Egyptian caves.

It then becomes his base of operations right up until the present day, but later serves as somewhere for a number of X-Men teams to call home. It also has very close ties to the origin of fan-favourite X-Man Cable.

Apocalypse’s discovery of Ship definitely appears to be what we’re seeing here, and Singer is going all out with his X-Men: Days of Future Past follow-up as he looks to tell the most epic big screen X-Men story yet.

Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, and Tye Sheridan, X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released on May 27th, 2016. Are you excited?
