Bruce Willis M Night

M. Night Shyamalan’s last few movies have failed to find much success either critically or commercially, but there’s no denying the fact that teaming with Bruce Willis on The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable really worked out rather well for the writer and director.

According to Deadline, Shyamalan is now in talks to reteam with Willis for Labor Of Love, a movie based on one of the very first screenplays sold early on in his career. The project landed at 20th Century Fox in 1993, but got no further than that as the studio was reluctant to allow him to direct at the time. Production is expected to begin in mid-September in Philadelphia.

The site adds that the movie will see, “Willis will play a Philadelphia book store owner who loses the love of his life in a tragic accident. Never big on words, he becomes haunted by the notion that he never properly told his wife how much he loved her. Since she once asked if he would walk across the country for her, he decides to show her posthumously just how much he did love her. That trek starts from Philadelphia to Pacifica, CA, which was her favourite place.”

It certainly sounds like a different sort of project for Shyamalan after a heavy focus on science fiction and supernatural thrillers, but whether he can find the same level of success with this one as he did with movie such as those mentioned above remains to be seen.
