Breaking Bad is over. Regardless of whether you tuned in from the very beginning or were one of the many latecomers who made the show a huge hit in its final couple of years, we are all now sadly unable to follow the exploits of Walter White.

Of course, if you’ve still not checked Breaking Bad out, then you should stop reading this right now and get straight to it, but what about the rest of us? Thankfully, this Autumn sees not only the debut of some very exciting new series’, but also the return of many fan favourite shows which deserve your attention. Now, we’re not saying that any of them are necessarily better than Breaking Bad, but they’ll certainly go some way to filling the void that the end of that groundbreaking small screen masterpiece left in our hearts.

Homeland

Homeland

Not everyone loved the fact that Homeland veered into 24 territory last season, but for better or worse, that is what the series has now become.

The majority are still completely in love with the show of course, and it continues to pick up awards on a regular basis. The season two finale left us in a very uncertain place, particularly in regards to what happens next with Brody and Carrie.  The team behind the show have already confirmed that the former won’t appear in the first two episodes, so speculation is at an all-time high when it comes to where exactly we’re going to find these characters when Homeland returns.

The season premiere only really served as a teaser for what’s to come rather than delivering any definitive answers…

So happy to see Supernatural on this list. But you forgot to mention the awesome soundtrack!

  • Malchovich

otherwise known as “Josh’s current favorite shows” considering that these shows are

    A) not in any conjunction to the themes/plot of Breaking Bad

    B) are probably already being watched by viewers considering many of them came out years ago
    C) all newer shows

What about shows like The Wire? The Shield? How much thought was put into this?

  • Brian Sleider

Arrow is written and acted terribly. Almost Human looks promising.

  • TK

Arrow? Blacklist? These shows are horribly scripted and directed! How can you even imagine they could replace a masterpiece like Breaking Bad?

  • The Duqs

What do you mean veered into 24 territory for homeland?

Continuum is the best SF on TV.

Arrow is great I dunno what you guys are talking about, why do u think the acting and directing r bad. What about it. There is alot of good shows out there right now and they r all unique in there own ways storywise but I dont see where its any different quality wise then other stuff. I think the acting is good and the fights and cinematography is good. If you dont like choices in plot thats another issue. What I’m waiting for is the integration of Superpowers but I understand where they started and if it happwns like with Flash etc then I think that is good it allowed it to breathe and start with vigilantismand have a larger world open up and have them have to face that. Also I think its time for a Domino mask. Other than I’m enjoying the story and seeing where its going. I’m a huge comic fan but I dont always get bogged down in the details and changes. Comics cartoons and tv/films all have alt interpretations, kinda like they are all alt realities of comic worlds so things can happen differently sometimes but keeping some core things and then updated others for format and time period or for a different take on the way events happen to the character which helps with mystery. Plus I think people dont always get that things are going seem different in a tv show/ film the plotting, tone and way the story plays out is different. Theres gonna be alot more action and scenes play out quicker panel to panel shot for shot in comics and cartoons and in live action especially tv there is alot more expostion, talking, and drama, because it takes longer to explain something in real life actually talking then having it in a bubble and until they have they budget and tech to expand action its still going to play out at a different pace. Even then you still have to have enough story so its still gotta balance. All the expostion and romance is in the comics its just plays out at a different pace and limited action and feels different watching live action people compared to drawings

With supernatural dont they mean if youve never heard of it not that youve never heard because isnt there a good chance alot of people have heard of it, maybe its a typo

Revolution was good. Why was it a disappointment. Were they expecting a different story? Its well done within the premise, almost human looks real good cant wait.

I love Walking dead, I dont mind the differences, especially since kirkman involved and again sometimes things just need happen a bit different to play out over the course of seasons vs comics, and also allows you not know what to expect. Sometimes its good to justtake elements from source and do a new alt version. I havent read all the books for Vampire Diaries but I’ve looked at the wiki overviews and sometimes it seems like some of the stuff is done in a way that is a little out there or wouldnt playout well in tv format but by making it a bit more grounded and changing some side characters way things play its good, not that every choice is the best some things from the books like certain charaters left out or events that happen might be good to see but adapted into the style of the show.
