Blue-Jasmine-PosterWoody Allen has assembled another terrific ensemble cast for his return to the big screen this summer with Blue Jasmine, and it’s undeniable that the writer-director’s latest feature is another must-see this season.

Cate Blanchett takes the lead this time around, and with little more than a month before the film is released in the US, the first trailer has debuted over on Yahoo Movies.

A New York housewife struggles through a life crisis.

Blanchett is joined by an all-star cast, led by Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins, Bobby Cannavale, Peter Sarsgaard, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay, and Michael Stuhlberg.

Allen is once more directing from his own script. And past collaborators Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum (Midnight in Paris, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) are returning to produce alongside Edward Walson (City Island).

Allen has an incredibly impressive track record when it comes to his output, releasing at least one film a year for the vast majority of his entire career. Blue Jasmine marks his return following last year’s To Rome With Love, and the previous year’s Oscar-winning Midnight in Paris. He’s already started lining up his as-yet-untitled follow-up, which has Emma Stone and Colin Firth circling, and needless to say, we’re really looking forward to seeing that as well.

Blue Jasmine will begin its limited release in the US in New York and LA on July 26th, with Sony Classics widening the release in successive weeks. Still no word yet on a UK release date, but here’s to hoping it will be following within a few months.
