We’ve already seen some of the world Denis Villeneuve and Ridley Scott have been building for the follow up to Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic. We’ve seen some very impressive neon-laced cityscapes, a bevy of future-noir couplings, and a very handsome first trailer. Blade Runner 2049 has a lot to live up to – however this new trailer gives us hope that the team are more than up to it.
Harrison Ford and Edward James Olmos are scheduled to return all these years later. Newcomers to the series include our new leading man Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas (Knock Knock), Robin Wright (Wonder Woman), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2), Lennie James (The Walking Dead) and Suicide Squad’s Joker – Jared Leto.
This new trailer shows off a confrontation between Gosling and Bautista, with some wonderful new moments pertaining to the story Villenueve and Scott are telling. Finally we get to hear Robin Wright speak, more about the direction (and the war between humans and replicants?) that the film is heading.
Visually it’s splendid, the cast looks top notch – let’s hope they’ve gone back to the well and returned with a fantastic story.
Blade Runner 2049 opens October 6th.
Here’s the new trailer,
