Earlier this year, Billy Dee Williams reprised the role of Lando Calrissian in animated series Star Wars Rebels.

As far as we know, Williams won’t be returning in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he’s now revealed that there is a chance we could still see him play Lando again in live-action at some point in the near future.

Though he has not yet watched the trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII, the actor said he is excited to see the movie and was more than happy to become play Lando on the small screen in Star Wars Rebels. “I’m with that character every year. I go out on the road and do these conventions, so that character is perpetually with me. I’m never without that character at some point or another. Lando is very much a part of my life.”

As for the negative reaction from Star Wars fans about Williams not being brought back for The Force Awakens, he added: “Yeah, people were pretty upset about it. But I uh…I may very well…I have a feeling I’m going to show up,” the actor teased. “There’s nothing I can really discuss about it at this stage.”

It sounds like we will definitely see Lando again sooner rather than later then, and more than likely in one of Rian Johnson’s Star Wars sequels. In fact that new movies might follow the old! “People think of me as the original cast, but I didn’t come in until the second movie. I did Empire and then I did Return of the Jedi, but I came in after everyone else was introduced…So I think they’re probably proceeding in that way.”

Would you like to see Billy Dee Williams return to the Star Wars universe as an older Lando Calrissian?
