Farhan Akhtar has never been scared of a challenge, as a director/producer he changed the cinematic landscape in India with his directorial debut, created a production house with a unique esthetic voice and vision backing some dark horse projects successfully all in what seems a very short time span. Now as an actor he is stepping away from his comfort zone of playing 30-something urbanites to Bhaag Milka Bhaag, a sports biopic of Milka Singh, also known as the Flying Sikh, the only Indian male athlete to win an Individual athletics Gold in Commonwealth Games.
Biopics aren’t my favorite genre of movies and it’s only been a recent trend to make them since the massive success of The Dirty Picture, add to that sports movies of which only a handful have been really worked Box Office wise (Chak De India, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander), on top of that Rakesh Mehra who is a very talented director just hasn’t had many movies appeal to audiences with the exception of Rang De Basanti.
Despite all of this the teaser of Bhaag Milka Bhaag looks amazing!
Not only because Farhan got totally buffed out, and now we can finally figure out all those bulges and veins he was hiding at the Don 2 premiere, but in the final shots it looks like he is really putting a performance forward, something a lot of his detractors were claiming he could not do and would always be playing Farhan in every movie Farhan is in.
