Guardians of the Galaxy star Benicio Del Toro is currently in Spain to promote A Perfect Day, and during an interview with one of their radio stations, the actor confirmed reports that he will indeed be taking on a leading role in the Rian Johnson helmed Star Wars Episode VIII.

Thanks to Star Wars 7 News, we have a translation of that chat. He started of by confirming that shooting will begin next March, and when asked about his role, Del Toro added:

“Ehhh…the thing is, they don’t let me talk too much about it, I’m like the villain.”

“Like” the villain? The translator claims that the actor didn’t seem entirely sure about whether he’s a good or bad guy in Star Wars Episode VIII, and with no firm details on who he’s paying at this early stage, who knows what kind of character he’ll end up starring as!

Still, it’s interesting to think that there might be some sort of twist, especially as we really don’t know at this stage how his villain will fit in with Kylo Ren, General Hux, and Captain Phasma (assuming they actually survive the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens).
