Despite conflicting reports about when The Batman will start shooting, Ben Affleck has refused to commit in recent interviews when asked if he’s ready to take the helm of the Caped Crusader’s solo movie. In fact, it was just a few days ago that he said he was still working on the screenplay and determined not to rush and deliver a “mediocre” effort.

Well, things are clearly heating up as Variety reveals that at a recent event of theirs, “Affleck indicated that he expected the film will begin shooting in the spring.” That lines up with comments from Joe Manganiello and Jeremy Irons, and the director/star went on to reiterate that the script is still key for ensuring that The Batman works. “We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”

When will it be released? That remains to be seen, but with Aquaman moved to October, that July 27th, 2018 slot is now free! Of course, it was announced yesterday that David Ayer will take the helm of Gotham City Sirens, a female led movie starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. It’s likely that she will be joined by familiar faces like Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice divided opinions, but Affleck’s Batman was singled out as perhaps the movie’s greatest achievement. As a result, fans can’t wait to see him take centre stage in his own solo adventure, especially as Affleck is also writing and directing!
