WARNING: Major Spoilers For Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Follow!

Warner Bros. has released a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it features a mysterious new bad guy who appears to be communicating with Lex Luthor. Who it it? Well, it looks an awful lot like one of the demons from that portrait Lex had on the wall of his father’s office, so it may just be a projection of his own damaged psyche.

However, some have suggested that this could be a monstrous take on Steppenwolf, one of the New Gods and a member of Darkseid’s Elite. That’s a theory which is supported by the fact that those three cubes look an awful lot like Mother Boxes, mysterious devices which could be seen in Batman v Superman when one of them enveloped the wounded Cyborg.

10 awesome moments to watch out for in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Either way, this is hopefully a moment which will be expanded on in that planned Ultimate Cut of Batman v Superman as it’s a scene which definitely leaves us with a lot of questions.

If that really is Steppenwolf though, that would explain how Lex knows about Darkseid’s impending arrival on Earth, even if how the villain is communicating with him is hard to figure out; could this be the moment he informed Darkseid’s minion that Superman is dead, thereby placing Earth in his crosshairs? Unfortunately, we’re stuck waiting and seeing!
