Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a very divisive movie, and while it’s hoped that the upcoming R-Rated “Ultimate Edition” will make up for its failings, it’s another Batman movie which currently has comic book fans excited. We’re not talking about Ben Affleck’s take either; instead, it’s an animated adaptation of Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke.

Set to go straight to DVD and Blu-ray, the R-Rated movie (it may be a cartoon, but yes, Warner Bros. has actually committed to having this very adult story aimed at a grown up audience) reunites Batman voice actor Kevil Conroy with Mark Hamill as The Joker.

Those two worked together in the cult favourite Batman: The Animated Series and the critically acclaimed Arkham video games, so the fact that the dynamic duo are once again reprising the roles of these iconic characters is a very big deal indeed. The cast will also include Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl and Ray Wise as Commissioner Jim Gordon.

The Killing Joke revolves around the Clown Prince of Crime attempting to drive Jim Gordon insane, and it’s frequently hailed as one of the best Batman tales of all-time. Based on what we see in the trailer below though, this animated feature is definitely going to do it justice!
