Ben Affleck Batman

Recently, a possible list of planned DC Comics movies for the next few years found its way online, but the lack of a solo movie for Batman was a massive surprise. After all, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy was a hit, and the iconic superhero equals guaranteed success at the box office.

With Ben Affleck attached to star in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the long-awaited Justice League movie, it should perhaps come as no great shock that rumours surrounding a solo outing for the Caped Crusader have now begun, with Affleck reportedly set to reprise the role in 2019.

The working title for this movie is apparently “The Batman”, and a 2019 release will apparently give the actor and director time to work on his period gangster film Live By Night for a late 2016 release. Production on this new Batman movie would then take place in 2017 or 2018.

This is all very much a rumour as of now, and we may not get an official announcement for years according to Latino-Review. In other words, take it with a pinch of salt!

It would be incredibly disappointing if Affleck didn’t end up directing The Batman, especially as he was at one point being considered to helm both Man of Steel and Justice League.

In related news, Jason Momoa was recently quizzed about those recent reports that he’ll play Aquaman. HitFix were first to post the rumour, but Hollywood trades have since confirmed it. However, in the following interview, the Game of Thrones actor refused to reveal anything, stating “We’ll have to wait and see.”
