Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes the lead in Rian Johnson’s Looper next month, reuniting once more with the writer-director after Johnson’s brilliant debut, Brick, for one of the most anticipated films of the year.

We caught an epic new international trailer for the film last week, giving us yet more reasons to believe that this could be the best sci-fi/action film of 2012.

Last month, we got our first preview of the score with composer Nathan Johnson, Rian’s brother, and Wired have debuted the second preview, giving us another fantastic look at the creation of the score, and the immense music we have to look forward to next month – you can’t help but love the sound of these drums.

“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.”

Gordon-Levitt stars alongside Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt in the leading trio, with strong support coming in the form of Jeff Daniels, Paul Dano, Piper Perabo, Noah Segan, and Garrett Dillahunt.

Looper will be opening the TIFF next month, before heading for a US and UK release on 28th September. I can’t wait; it looks immense. For now, enjoy this brilliant second score preview. Johnson says that he’s got one more preview in the works, and we can’t wait to see/hear it.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
