After an immense first trailer surfaced online last week for John Hillcoat’s highly anticipated Lawless, followed by two new images of Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy from the film, we now have five more great new images to share giving us a look at some of the rest of the cast, which includes Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Chronicle’s Dane DeHaan.
Due out in cinemas at the very end of the summer, Hillcoat is directing from a script penned by Nick Cave, who’s adapted the original novel by Matt Bondurant, The Wettest County in the World (which was to be the film’s original title, before changing to The Wettest County, and now finally Lawless).
“LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”
Everything about this project screams ‘epic’, and everyone is expecting nothing but good things from it. With such a brilliant team behind and in front of the camera, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be incredible.
Lawless is set to be released in the UK and US on 31st August, making it the perfect film to see out the summer with on that final weekend of the season.
