Seth MacFarlane, best known for creating and voicing Family Guy and American Dad!, is making his feature directorial debut this summer, and it looks like it’s going to be amazing.

The first poster debuted last month, and now the first (very much red-band) trailer has made its online debut, and it’s genius. If you like Family Guy, American Dad!, or The Cleveland Show, there’s a very good chance you’re going to love this.

MacFarlane lends his voice to this R-rated comedy as well as directing and co-writing it, starring as Ted, an animated teddy bear with the same foul-mouth we know and love of MacFarlane’s comedy. Along with MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg stars in the lead, with Mila Kunis opposite as the lovely love interest, supported by Giovanni Ribisi, Patrick Warburton, Laura Vandervoort, Jessica Stroup, Joel McHale, and Ralph Garman.

“John (Wahlberg) makes a Christmas miracle happen by bringing his one and only friend to life, his teddy bear. The two grow up together and John must then choose to stay with his girlfriend, Lori (Kunis), or keep his friendship with his crude and extremely inappropriate teddy bear, Ted (MacFarlane).”

Along with the first trailer, we’ve also got a new poster to share with you, and three new images from the film, the former of which is pretty similar to the first poster we saw last month.

Ted will be released in the US on 13th July, before coming to the UK a few weeks later for a 3rd August release. It looks like it’s going to be one of the funniest comedies of the year, and here’s the trailer to prove it. (Again, as you can imagine, it earns its red-band rating and then some, so check back later if you’re watching this at work.) As usual with the images below, you can click to enlarge.

(For anyone interested, the song that starts 20 seconds into the trailer is Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap, and it is amazing.)
