Scoot McNairy’s role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is shrouded in secrecy, but a new set photo could provide a clue as to who exactly the Monsters star will be playing in the Zack Snyder helmed movie.

McNairy joining the cast came as a pleasant surprise and was likely on the recommendation of Argo director Ben Affleck (who plays Bruce Wayne/Batman in this movie) and writer Chris Terrio who was brought on board to rewrite David Goyer’s initial draft shortly after Affleck joined the ambitious project.

As you can see from the set photo below, the actor is wearing CGI socks which will obviously lead to some changes being made to his legs in post-production. There have been rumours of The Flash making an appearance not in costume, so it could be that we see McNairy head into action in the suit you see above and that his legs are altered in someway in order to effectively show off the Scarlet Speedster’s power set.

Another theory is that McNairy’s legs will be removed as he will be one of the maimed survivors of Superman and General Zod’s battle in Metropolis from 2013’s Man of Steel.

However, the actor was also spotted on set without these green socks not too long ago, and a number of fairly reliable sources have vaguely confirmed that they believe that McNairy is indeed set to play The Flash in both Batman V Superman, Justice League and his own movie where he’ll appear alongside Green Lantern.

Do you think we’ll see Scoot McNairy suited up as The Flash in 2016?
