As inevitable as the sunrise the world of mobile gaming is about to pester the big screen in a big way. Leading the charge is one of its most well-known timesinks – the Angry Birds Movie is heading our way in May next year.
The film is no doubt hoping to ape the success of those pesky Minions and encourage the millions of gamers who have ploughed hours of their lives in flinging disgruntled avian cannons through digital skies into the cinema. Brought to you from the brains behind Despicable Me 2, the Powerpuff Girls and so on Rovio’s ubiquitous creations seem like a fine fit, as long as there’s enough good ideas to sustain a full feature.
Jason Sudeikis, Peter Dinklage, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, Josh Gad and Danny McBride lend their vocal chords to this one, so there’s talent on both sides which is encouraging. The first look trailer landed today, let’s see what the cinematic outing of those Angry Birds will look like.
