American-Hustle-Character-Poster-Jennifer-Lawrence-sliceWhen you have Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and Jeremy Renner as your leading quintet, you pretty much can’t go wrong. That’s the expectation surrounding David O. Russell’s American Hustle, with an eye firmly set on the Oscars early next year.

Following on from the new TV spot seen earlier in the week, Sony has launched another thirty-second look at the film, teasing new footage, and a rather confident Jennifer Lawrence looking to be bought a drink.

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock the States, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.

Robert De Niro, Jack Huston, Louis C.K., Michael Peña, Elisabeth Rohm, Dawn Olivieri, and Alessandro Nivola star alongside the leading cast, making for one of the year’s most promising ensembles.

Russell co-wrote the script with Eric Warren Singer (The International), with Megan Ellison and Charles Roven producing alongside Bradley Cooper as executive producer.

American Hustle will begin its limited US release on December 13th before opening wide on December 18th, all ahead of its UK release dates, set to open in London on 20th December before going wide on 3rd January.
