Sony may not be bringing anything big to this year’s Comic-Con, but they’ve made some huge announcements today. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was originally scheduled for a 2016 release, but Uncharted (the big screen adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game series) has now taken that movie’s June 10th release date.

However, we WILL be revisiting the Spider-Man Cinematic Universe two years from now as Sinister Six is scheduled to open on November 11th, 2016. Written and directed by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), that movie focuses on a team of villains who team up to take down Peter Parker.

It’s not clear whether Spider-Man will appear in that movie or who will make up the team’s roster, but Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin will likely be there, with the likes of Doctor Octopus and Electro joining him.

The Amazing Spider-Man 4 was dated for May 4, 2018, but the third movie has now been pencilled in for a currently unknown day that year. If the iconic Marvel character doesn’t make an appearance in Sinister Six, that means that Spider-Man will have been absent from the big screen for over four years.

There was no mention of Alex Kurtzman’s Venom, so that movie is currently unscheduled.

Also unclear is the involvement of director Marc Webb and star Andrew Garfield. The latter likely signed a three picture deal, but whether he’ll want to be playing him at almost 35 remains to be seen.

“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” said Doug Belgrad, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group. “June 10 is a great date for Uncharted,” Belgrad added. “It’s just the right place for this exciting action-adventure film.”
