Another week, another epic show announced to land at the World Famous Royal Albert Hall.

This time it’s one for the sci-fi horror fans out there as we’ve been given the heads up that James Cameron’s Aliens Live will be coming to the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 6th November following the likes of Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Gladiator, E.T. and Independence Day.

You’ll be able to watch the movie starring Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley on a giant screen while the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra play the score live. It truly is the ultimate way to watch no doubt one of your favourite films. The performance will mark the 30th anniversary of the iconic movie which followed Ridley Scott’s Alien. The Aliens score was written by the late, great composer James Horner who sadly died in a plane crash last year. Horner worked with James Cameron on a number of projects including Avatar. We had the privilege to interview him not long before he died. You can see our interview with Horner which coincidentally took place at the Royal Albert Hall following Titanic live here.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday) AM at 10am on the Royal Albert Hall website. Be sure to snap yours up before they all go.

Royal Albert Hall to host Aliens Live – 30th anniversary

orchestral screening of the classic action film

One of the greatest action movies ever will get a special 30th anniversary screening at the Royal Albert Hall in November – as its legendary score by the late James Horner is played live and in full.

Aliens, directed by James Cameron and starring Sigourney Weaver as the iconic Ellen Ripley, is one of the most celebrated films of all-time: a pulsating, adrenalised, no-holds-barred sci-fi actioner featuring one of the most memorable heroes – and one of the most terrifying villains – in movie history.

Now, as part of the Hall’s inaugural film festival, it will be accompanied for the first time by a full symphony orchestra playing James Horner’s unforgettable score, in tribute to the composer, who made one of his last public performances at the famous London venue prior to his tragic death last year.

Lucy Noble, Director of Events at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “Our film-and-live-orchestra programme for 2016 has proved immensely popular so far, with Jurassic Park selling 10,000 tickets on the first day alone.

“Now we’re delighted to reveal the other headline show for November’s film festival: more big blockbuster scares in the shape of James Cameron’s explosive Aliens, with James Horner’s incredible music brought front and centre by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by Ludwig Wicki.

“This world premiere promises to be a spectacular show, and one of the centrepieces of the festival, which will also include a host of special screenings, talks and concerts. Some will be during the day, but audiences will mostly come at night… mostly.”

Aliens is a thrilling stand-alone sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 horror masterwork, Alien, in which Ripley (Weaver) leads a team of space marines on a rescue mission to a colonised planet stalked by the alien she encountered 57 years before. This time, though, it is not alone.
