Following on from Prometheus was always on the cards when the 2012 film left us with more questions than answers. All eyes are on director Ridley Scott’s new third Alien film, and earlier this week we were thrown headlong into another xenophobic nightmare with the nasty new trailer for his forthcoming Alien Covenant. There’s a new red band variant online today, with a number of hints as to the grisly nature of our travels with Scott’s new crew.
As pointed out by AvPGalaxy there aren’t too many new shots here, though the differences are pointed. An F-bomb lands, there is the shot you see above of a bloodied crew member and this shot below…
…of what looks like an anatomical study, perhaps something the Engineers were working on when all hell broke loose. Again – more questions than answers. The film is being billed as far more a horror film than its sci-fi oriented predecessors. This is a good thing, as the primal fear evoked by the original Alien film remains today.
Katherine Waterston is our lead with James Franco, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir and Billy Crudup, Callie Hernandez, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz among the crew. Many of whom were seen recently in the prologue, Last Supper, directed by Luke Scott. Check it out here, then dive into a world of teeth and screaming.
