Hayley-Atwell-in-Agent-Carter-Marvel-One-ShotWith three shorts already under their belt, Marvel’s One-Shots have become almost as anticipated as their feature-length counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and their next short, Agent Carter, is no different.

The film, featuring the return of Hayley Atwell as the titular Agent Carter from Captain America: The First Avengers, is set to make its debut to audiences at Comic-Con. And, thankfully, it won’t be long until the rest of us can enjoy it, with its release attached to the DVD/Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3 in September.

Ahead of its debut at Comic-Con next weekend, EW have got the first look at the short for us, with a retro-comic poster alongside three first images.

Returning alongside Atwell will be Dominic Cooper, who reprises his role from the first Captain America as Howard Stark, Tony’s father. And joining them will be the ever-brilliant Bradley Whitford (The West Wing, Cabin in the Woods) as Carter’s sexist, bureaucratic boss, Agent Flynn.

Louis D’Esposito, who helmed the most recent One-Shot, Item 47, is once more behind the camera, reuniting with Eric Pearson, who’s written all the One-Shots so far.

“It’s a year since Cap plunged into the ocean,” D’Esposito says. “And in our mind, we said there’s a few SSR offices. If you want to relate it to now, it’s like the OSS, the precursor to the CIA. The SSR is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting Zodiac… Zodiac in the books has been many many different things… We just want you to know it’s deadly, it’s important, bad guys are guarding it, and it’s imperative she gets it.”

If you’re heading out to Comic-Con this month, then it goes without saying that Agent Carter is going to be one of the best things you should try to see whilst you’re there. And for the rest of us, here’s to hoping that the next two months will pass quickly before it’s released on DVD/Blu-ray, attached to Iron Man 3.
