A-Long-Way-Down-Poster-sliceBringing beloved author Nick Hornby’s work to the big screen once more, A Long Way Down is soon to begin its tour of the festival circuit out in Berlin and then Glasgow, before heading into our cinemas this spring.

Pascal Chaumeil’s adaptation of Hornby’s novel arrives in cinemas on our shores this March, and with less than two months to go before it reaches us, the first trailer has had its debut over on digitalspy.

New Year’s Eve on the top of a London skyscraper. MARTIN (Brosnan) is literally on the edge. A once-beloved TV personality, he’s now desperate to jump. But he’s not alone. Single mother MAUREEN, (Collette), sassy teen JESS (Poots), and failed musician turned pizza-delivery boy JJ (Paul), have all turned up on the same roof with the same plan.

Instead of jumping, these four strangers make a pact to stay alive and stay together until Valentine’s Day at least.  Both funny and poignant, A LONG WAY DOWN follows this group of unlikely friends as they try to pull back from the brink.

Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Imogen Poots, and Aaron Paul head the very impressive leading quartet.

Chaumeil (Heartbreaker) makes his feature debut in the English language, with Jack Thorne (This is England ’86, The Fades) makig his own feature debut as a screenwriter, adapting Hornby’s original novel.

A Long Way Down will be released in the UK and Ireland on 21st March. The film is still seeking a distributor in the US, but hopefully it won’t have to wait long, particularly given that past Hornby adaptations include High Fidelity and About a Boy, beloved on both sides of the Atlantic.
