Hyde Park on Hudson posterGetting a limited US release in the height of the awards season, Roger Michell (Notting Hill) returns behind the camera to bring us Hyde Park on Hudson, the presidential drama that has spent the past few months on the festival circuit.

Led by Bill Murray as US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, we saw the first trailer for the film back in May, and now Universal have released the first three clips from the film ahead of its release here in the UK in the New Year.

“In June 1939, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Academy Award nominee Bill Murray) and his wife Eleanor (Olivia Williams) host the King and Queen of England (Samuel West and Olivia Colman) for a weekend at the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park on Hudson, in upstate New York–the first-ever visit of a reigning English monarch to America. With Britain facing imminent war with Germany, the Royals are desperately looking to FDR for support. But international affairs must be juggled with the complexities of FDR’s domestic establishment, as wife, mother, and mistresses all conspire to make the royal weekend an unforgettable one. Seen through the eyes of Daisy (Academy Award nominee Laura Linney), Franklin’s neighbor and intimate, the weekend will produce not only a special relationship between two great nations, but, for Daisy–and through her, for us all–a deeper understanding of the mysteries of love and friendship.”

Previously titled Hyde Park on the Hudson, Murray stars alongside an impressive cast, joined by Laura Linney, Olivia Williams, Olivia Colman, Samuel West, Elizabeth Marvel, Elizabeth Wilson, and Blake Ritson, with Michell directing from a script Richard Nelson.

Hyde Park on Hudson will be given a limited release by Focus Features in the US on 7th December, before being released  by Universal in the UK on 1st February, 2013. For now, here are the first three clips from the film, to let you dip a toe in the water. Enjoy.
