You’ve seen the face of Matt Damon many times over the years, but never quite like this…

Ridley Scott’s Oscar-nominated film is out today on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD and  one of the more creative ways to celebrate the release comes in the form of a potato mosiac of Mr. Damon’s famous visage.

In the film Damon’s character has to survive on Mars by growing the only food he can – potatoes. Culinary artist Prudence Staite of Food Is Art Ltd. saw this as the perfect setting off point to create something special.

Here’s a bite-sized guide to the project (which took twenty-four hours in total!).

Staite used over 227kg of spuds, with 10 varieties of potatoes and almost 2000 peppercorns to fill in the familiar features.
