Ben Affleck’s Argo emerged from its debut at Telluride and TIFF as a strong contender across the board in the coming awards season, and the anticipation is riding high for the actor-director’s third feature behind the camera.

The film will be heading to the BFI London Film Festival next month, and naturally it’s one of the films we’re most looking forward to seeing at the festival. After catching the new UK poster for the film last week, three new character posters have since made their way online.

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis–the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Affleck takes the lead as expert exfiltrator, Tony Mendez, and is joined by a terrific supporting cast, headed up by Scoot McNairy, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Schilling, Clea DuVall, and Tate Donovan.

Chris Terrio has penned the script, adapting the fascinating original 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman, How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, which you can (and should) read here.

Argo will be released in the US on 12th October, and will be coming to the UK a little later on 7th November. I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best films of the year, and can’t wait it to reach our shores. For now, here are the great new character posters of Affleck, Goodman, and Arkin. As usual, you can click to enlarge.
